The Newtec satmodems NTC/2252 can be used for broadband from 23.5°E. Usually the satmodems are configured at the time of the original install. If you're not sure what position your satmodem is configured for, check these settings on the Satellite Interface page.
Use this 23.5°E position for "Broadband (TV Options)" packages whether or not you have the TV Option. If you have a package or dish on 28.2°E, you need to use Satellite Interface Settings for 28.2°E.
Although ASTRA 2 at 28.2°E is the default position for service, 23.5°E is available for the following cases:
- for TV as well as Broadband on the same dish (needs TV Quad LNB with clamp, not possible with Broadband on 28.2°E)
- can't get good line-of-sight on 28.2°E
- have an NTC/2250 satmodem (also termed "CCM" type. MAC address starts 00:06:39:00: or 00:06:39:80: or 81: or 82: )
Get the correct Pointing Parameters for your location before installation. Use the Pointing Information for the correct position (23.5°E). Enter your postcode and select 23.5 ASTRA 3, ASTRA 3B. Write down the figures for Dish Setup Data (just under the map). You can do that on this page if you print it out and use it for reference when doing the install.
|Postcode||Elevation||Azimuth||LNB skew||scale on iLNB neck|
|Note:||for the scale on the dish mount||true or magn depends on your compass||to get scale from skew, drop the ‘-‘ sign eg for -12, use 12|
You will need to know the figures in the above red boxes for a successful install or repoint.
The procedure is in the manual so please see Section 22.214.171.124 Edit The Satellite Interface Configuration. If you are going to re-configure your own satmodem, please print out a copy first so you have it for reference.
If you are installing or repointing, now you should follow the Point & Play procedure to point the dish at 23.5°E for service from ASTRA 3.
When the ODU (dish/iLNB) is correctly aligned on 23.5°E, it will automatically download any required software update , update itself and reboot. Then you should be online on the new position.
